Surfer Alistair Mennie rides a giant breaker off the west coast of Ireland last Saturday, on a day of dangerously high swells and shattered records.
Duncon Scott, Mennie, Gabe Davies and Ritchie Fitzgerald rode record-breaking 60 ft waves off Mullaghmore Head in Donegal Bay, despite warnings by Irelands Marine Institute and Metro Eirean for people to stay away.
The surfers used jet skis to provide them with the initial momentum to slingshot them onto the giant, unbroken swells. Waves of such magnitude and power move too fast to be caught by traditional human paddling power alone.
These blokes saw a window of opportunity for their 'it', ignored the 'The Man' who said don't do it, and lived a dream. They may never have a better day of surfing, it'll be in their memories for the rest of their lives - they went for it.
